Leave it to developers in Dubai with the world's tallest building and the world's largest mall to astonish once again with the most expensive bathrooms in the world planned for the new XXII Carat Villas at the Palm Jumeirah. The Russian developer behind the newest luxury addition wanted to create the most exclusive and sought-after villa in the country.
Each property will include a $1 million bathtub made out of a single piece of 23,000 lb. Amazonian rock crystal. Considered the crown jewel within the 22 ultra-luxurious villas and 2 penthouse development, other high-end features include a 20,000-foot garden as well as finishes and equipment imported from France and Italy including enameled La Cornue cookers and La Cuisine Française kitchen cabinets.
However, it is the crystal bathtubs created by Baldi Home Jewels that are the selling point. "The material for each bathtub is sourced in Brazil and shipped to Italy, where they are then carved. Hundreds of hours are spent on sanding each bath to make it smooth on the inside, while the outside is intentionally left untouched in each to highlight the contrast between nature and workmanship,” according to Baldi.
The historic Florence, Italy company’s bathroom collections are well known for their use of such semiprecious stones as malachite, amethyst and rock crystal together with precious metals such as gold and silver. Baldi, run by Paolo Consani Baldi and Anna Ponziani was founded in 1867 as the Florentine atelier of sculpture Vincenzo Consani. Italian firm Devon & Devon provided the decadent bathroom interiors giving it a touch of European elegance.
Last year Baldi sold a crystal bathtub to billionaire socialite Tamara Ecclestone for $1,000,000. The three-person tub was sculpted with diamond cuts, while the partial rough edges of the tub enhanced the natural beauty of the living crystal. The XXII Carat Villas will offer rose quartz and green quartz with real gold trim and gemstones.
The XXII Carat properties are located at the end of the Palm Jumeirah’s West Crescent next to The One & Only Resort. There are three different villa types being offered; Emerald, Rub, and Sapphire. Each villa is serviced and hosts a 25m swimming pool; along with direct access to the clubhouse and concierge. Many of the properties, which feature seven bedrooms range between 8,000 sq. ft. and 13,000 sq. ft., have already been sold with most buyers from Russia and Europe as well as China according to the developer. Prices for the villas start at $10 million.
Among the high-end properties currently available for sale is an 8 bedroom Penthouse on Palm Jumeirah that is currently listed for $16,334 million and includes 13,883 sq. ft. of living space and a 2,626 sq. ft. terrace.
